This series steps away from my usual color-crazy, photo-based art with its glossy perfection and razor-sharp edges. Here, the work embraces the abstract: no photos (mostly), matte plaster finishes, and irregular resin cutouts that revel in imperfection.
The pieces explore human interaction—when we choose to stand out or melt into the background. We lead, we falter (“the dropout,” “A Checkered Past”), or we simply observe from the sidelines (“the wallflowers”).
A little rough, a touch ironic, and all about the dance between visibility and camouflage.
These pieces are on view at my studio at Canopy Austin. Make an appointment for a visit.
